Valoriza will continue to provide street cleaning and waste collection services in Sant Cugat del Vallès (Barcelona)

The street cleaning, waste collection and transportation fleet incorporates electric and hydrogen-powered collection vehicles

The Valoriza-Acciona joint venture has been awarded the street cleaning, waste collection and transport service for Sant Cugat del Vallés (Barcelona). The contract is for ten years and the total amount is 128,9 million euros.

The joint venture will be responsible for the collection of various types of waste, both household and commercial, using the most advanced technologies. It will also include the collection of household waste oil, as well as street cleaning throughout the municipality with manual and mechanical sweeping and sweepings.

Sant Cugat is a reference municipality in the metropolitan area of Barcelona, and it will apply advanced collection procedures such as containers with locks, container removal services in the center, as well as completely new technologies in Spain such as the incorporation of two hydrogen-powered vehicles: a collector and a sweeper.

In addition, electric collection vehicles are also incorporated, which makes up a very sustainable and differential fleet for urban sanitation tasks. In short, a great advance will be achieved in collection services adapted to the requirements of the waste law and minimization of the environmental and noise impact of the machinery used.
