Projects
This project arises from the detection of technological limitations in the field of mechanical sweepers. These systems present a series of adverse elements that make the work of both the driver and the machinery difficult. For example, these deficiencies cause the suction mouth and the sweeper itself to suffer serious and costly damage caused by collisions with other elements such as curbs.
For this reason, we have developed a functional prototype based on the design of a package of innovative solutions made up of three main elements: hardware, mechanical system and specific and transversal control software. This prototype, adapted to sweepers, achieves automation of aspiration, improving efficiency and precision and increasing worker safety.
Most electric vehicles available on the market cannot guarantee the provision of 100% electric service normally, since some do not reach the minimum battery performance and those that do cannot do the demanding jobs usually required. In order to incorporate electric vehicles, regardless of their degree of maturity, into the service, their performance must be improved.
Faced with this situation, we develop intelligent management software for efficient driving of electric vehicles in the waste collection service fleet that allows us to reduce and optimize battery consumption to provide the same services with identical or better performance than that of a fleet of fossil fuel vehicles.
The innovation of this project lies in the novelty that the software brings to the electric vehicle sector, since there is nothing like it for this market area.
In the MSW incineration process, slag and ashes, among other byproducts, are generated. The slag flow contains precious metals and others of great economic value, and material that can be marketed as aggregate for use in construction, depending on the presence of metals that may contaminate it.
The current plant separation equipment, in most cases, is not economically viable in the final part of the flow and, where appropriate, manual sorting or sending to landfill is being used. Therefore, it is important to undertake new technological developments capable of proposing technically and economically viable alternatives in order to be able to recover this waste before being sent to landfill.
